FAQ
Can Embodied Integral Wellness and Judi Epstein, ARNP be my Primary Care Provider?
Judi Epstein, MSN, ARNP has decided to work outside of the medical insurance system to be able to offer longer patient visits with more personalized 1:1 care and is not a Primary Care Practice. Though she sees patients with all types of health concerns via telemedicine, she does not offer routine health screenings or in-person visits, and is not available in emergencies. You need to have an established primary care provider before becoming a patient at Embodied Integral Wellness.
How many visits will I need?
Depending upon your unique health challenges, plan for a minimum of 4-5 visits (new patient visit, comprehensive lab review visit, and 2-3 follow up visits). If you are also doing additional specialty testing, these will require additional follow up visits to review results and determine a treatment plan.
How often are Follow-Up visits?
Follow Up visits will depend upon the number of labs and tests ordered, your unique health goals, the progress you are making, and of course, your preferences. Most Follow Up visits range from 2 weeks, up to 1 to 3 months, with the most common Follow Up interval being 2-4 weeks after your initial new patient visit. You and your provider will make a collaborative decision for a follow-up timeframe that will consider your personalized treatment plan.
Can I communicate with my provider in between visits?
Yes! Patients may ask a quick question regarding their current treatment plan in-between visits via the online patient portal messaging system. Your provider will respond within 2 business days. Questions not related to the treatment plan are best suited for a scheduled patient visit.
Is it possible for my insurance to cover labs?
Your labs may be covered by insurance, depending upon your health insurance plan. Although Embodied Integral Wellness is not affiliated with insurance, you will receive a recommended treatment plan after your Initial Patient Visit that you can use to determine the coverage of your labs ahead of time. The preference is to order common/conventional lab testing through Labcorp and Quest and it is billed by the lab directly to your insurance and is typically covered. There are also out-of-pocket lab options for patients who either don’t have insurance or don’t want to go through insurance.
www.walkinlab.com has very reasonable pricing utilizing both LabCorp and Quest testing sites. You pay them directly and go to the testing site of your choice. Lab results are sent directly to you.
Is it possible for my insurance to cover specialty tests?
Generally, specialty tests are not covered by most insurance plans. However, many HSA/FSA plans will pay for this type of testing. You will always pay the specialty test company directly to get the lowest price possible. Please check with your insurance plan provider to see if you have out-of-network benefits and specialty testing coverage.
How many tests can be reviewed per visit?
Reviewing your test results through an Integrative/Functional Medicine lens is a different experience than reviewing your results with a Conventional Medicine provider. Each set of tests are FULL of information that will be reviewed with you in detail. These visits include not only a thorough review of the results, but also an in-depth discussion regarding your personalized treatment plan which includes lifestyle changes, herbs, nutraceuticals, supplements, OTC medications, prescription medications, etc.
Both portions of the visit have equal importance and take a considerable amount of time. Subsequently, you will need a separate visit for each set of testing (ie. Bloodwork, specialty tests including: gut studies, salivary adrenal testing, hormone testing, etc.)
Where can I order supplements?
Judi Epstein, ARNP partners with Fullscript, an online supplement distribution platform that offers high quality brand supplements that are third-party tested. You create a personal login and then you will see the discounted prices to purchase supplements and have them shipped directly to your home.
I will always be mindful to work with your budget needs when recommending nutritional supplements in your treatment plan. Most of the supplements I recommend are offered at a discount through the Fullscript patient portal.
